"Its amazing how the World begins to change through the eyes of a cup of coffee!!" - DONNA A. FAVORS

USDA Organic, Fair-Trade, and Café Femenino certified

Every batch is roasted fresh in small quantities to bring out the unique character of each coffee. We carefully source high-quality Arabica beans and roast them weekly, giving you the freshest coffee possible instead of beans that have been sitting on a shelf for months.

Coffee emergencies happen, and our Dial-A-Bag program is here to help. If you run out outside of normal business hours, send us a text. If we're available, we'll do our best to get you a fresh bag of coffee when you need it most.

Freshness is what sets our coffee apart. We roast every week and offer a wide selection of premium whole bean and ground coffees, ensuring every bag delivers the aroma, flavor, and quality specialty coffee lovers expect.

Our handcrafted blends combine carefully selected beans to create balanced, consistent flavors for every brewing style. Whether you enjoy a smooth everyday cup or a bold espresso, we roast each blend fresh for maximum flavor.

We proudly offer organic and Fair Trade certified coffees sourced from trusted growers around the world. These coffees support responsible farming practices while delivering the exceptional quality and freshness our customers expect.

Enjoy full-bodied coffee flavor without the caffeine. Our Swiss Water Process decaf uses a chemical-free decaffeination method that preserves the bean's natural taste, giving you a smooth, satisfying cup any time of day.
"Its amazing how the World begins to change through the eyes of a cup of coffee!!" - Donna A. Favors. That is the kind of experience we aim to create with every bag of fresh roasted coffee we send home with a customer in Mission, BC and across the Fraser Valley.
Is the Grab-a-Java coffee house on 7th Avenue still open?
No. The 7th Avenue location in Mission, BC was permanently closed following the pandemic. Grab-a-Java now operates exclusively as a specialty roastery at a Murray Street location in Mission. It is a pick-up roastery, not a café. There is no seating, no lunch menu, and no espresso bar on site. The focus is entirely on fresh roasted coffee beans available for pick-up directly from the roastery. How fresh is the coffee when I pick it up?
We roast in small batches every week, so the coffee you pick up was roasted very recently. Coffee begins losing its peak aroma and flavour characteristics within 30 days of roasting. Grocery store coffee is often roasted months before it reaches you. At Grab-a-Java, the 30-day freshness window is treated as a hard limit, which is why we keep production small and frequent rather than roasting large batches in advance. What certifications do your coffees carry?
Our coffees are sourced through USDA Organic, Fair-Trade, and Café Femenino certified channels. Café Femenino is a program that specifically supports women farmers in growing regions like Peru and Sumatra. We have maintained our relationship with our Peru co-op since 2004. Our decaf option uses the Swiss Water Process, a chemical-free method for caffeine removal that preserves the flavour profile of the bean. Can I order a larger bag or a custom amount?
Yes. The standard purchase is a 1 lb bag, which is available without any special lead time. If you need a 1/2 lb, 2 lb, or 5 lb bag, those require a minimum 3-day lead time for custom roasting. All orders are pick-up at our Murray Street roastery in Mission, BC. Pricing varies by coffee variety and bag size, so it is worth checking current availability when you place your order. What is the Dial-A-Bag program?
Dial-A-Bag is a text-based emergency bean service for the Mission community. If you run out of coffee outside of regular pick-up hours, you can send a text to arrange getting beans when you need them. It is designed as a community resource for loyal customers who should not have to go without fresh roasted coffee just because the timing is inconvenient. Text-only; no calls for this program.Do you carry decaf coffee?
Yes. We offer a decaf option processed using the Swiss Water Process. This is a chemical-free method that removes caffeine while keeping the flavour characteristics of the bean intact. It is the same commitment to quality we apply to all of our roasts, just without the caffeine. What is the difference between single origin coffees and blends?
Single origin coffees come from one specific region or co-op, such as Ethiopia Sidama, Peru Café Femenino, or Brazil Minas Gerais. They tend to have distinct, identifiable flavour profiles tied to their growing region. Blends combine beans from multiple origins to create a consistent, balanced cup. Our blends include Smooth Sailing, Full City Sasquatch, Full Tilt Espresso, World Gold, and Dark Secrets. The right choice depends on your brew method and flavour preferences.Do you offer gift packages or samplers?
Yes. We offer 3-pack, 4-pack, and 6-pack sampler packages priced at $35, $46, and $70 respectively. Each package contains multiple 1/2 lb bags of freshly roasted coffee, and customers choose the varieties they want included. These make a practical and genuinely high-quality gift for anyone who cares about what is in their cup.
